Jessamy was brought up on the North East coast at Whitley Bay. The sea has left a lasting impression on her, even during her studies in her local area and Scotland.

It has been a strong influence on her work and life, which is now divided between those two points. The land that lies between remains one of her recurring sources of inspiration.

Juo is an award-winning creative company run by talented UK designers Jessamy Kelly and Joanne Mitchell, based at the National Glass Centre, in Sunderland. Juo specialise in the design and production of high quality fused art glass, creating limited edition wall panels for modern interiors.

Joanne’s early influences were deeply rooted in the evocative panorama of her childhood that took in County Durham and West Yorkshire.

She remains inspired by the landscapes, both rural and urban, that dominated her formative years. And glass was the medium into which she chose to translate those influences.
